Hello, thank you for visiting my website, and taking the time to read my first blog, hopefully one of many that will be entertaining, and insightful into the world of an antique dealer! I thought it would be appropriate to keep this brief, and just introduce myself and tell my readers a little bit about how I got started as an antique dealer.

In 1992 I moved to Ft. Myers, FL from Denver, CO, and, along with my Mom, decided to leave the world of selling office equipment and embark on a business together, opening an antique shop! Neither one of us had any prior business experience, but what we did have was a passion for buying pretty things, and after frequenting some of the local shops in town, we thought, if they can do it, so can we! So, we opened our first little shop, Era Antiques, on McGregor Blvd, just down the street from the historic Thomas Edison winter home! Along with a cluster of quaint little shops, we opened ours with pretty lace curtains(thanks to my Mom’s knack of decorating), and a small collection of things we had been buying at estate sales! We didn’t know what we were doing, but we LOVED it!!! From there, our business grew over the next nine years, doubling in size and accumulating a long list of loyal customers. We made good friends, and learned much from them, and I think they learned from us too. We traveled for a time to Atlanta to do the antique market there, pulling a trailer full of treasures each month! My best memories are of our shop in Ft. Myers, memories I cherish with my Mom and all the fun we had learning together. I’m so incredibly lucky to do what I love!

After nine wonderful years in Florida, we moved out west to Phoenix, AZ, and I continue to buy and sell here. What a change! That, I will write about later. I hope to teach through my website in a fun way what it’s like to buy and sell, and what it’s like behind the scenes in the life of an antique dealer. Thank you again for visiting, and come back!
